Maľba (Painting) 2023
The competition Maľba – Cena Nadácie VÚB za maliarske dielo pre mladých umelcov (Painting – the VUB Foundation Award for young artists) has fulfilled its mission – to promote Slovakia´s most gifted professional painters and raise public awareness of visual art – for eighteen years.
We would like to invite you to the exhibition of finalists of this year´s competition Maľba (Painting), which is on view in the Nedbalka Gallery from September 22 to October 22, 2023.
An international jury comprising representatives of the European art scene guarantees that the collection of 20 works provides the best possible picture of the future development of modern professional painting in Slovakia. This year, the finalists have been chosen out of 103 entrants by Michal Novotný, curator, art critic and director of the modern art collections of the National Gallery Prague, Hana Ostan Ožbolt, Austrian-Slovenian art historian, independent curator and educator, Jaime Valero, painter and visual artist from Spain, and Ivana Moncoľová, art historian, art critics and curator.
If you are curious what´s new in Slovak art, visit the Nedbalka Gallery. Thanks to the VUB Foundation, the entry to the exhibition is free. The best young painters of the year will be announced on September 21.
The finalists of the Maľba 2023 competition include: Zuzana Badinková, Barbora Durajová, Juraj Ďuriš, Oskar Felber, Paulína Gajerová, Alexandra Hrehová, Dajana Hroššová, Monika Hurajová, David Javorský, Kristína Kandriková, Samuel Kollárik, Dominika Kováčiková, Richard Marco, Ivana Mojšová, Miroslav Sandanus, Dominika Škorváneková, Anna Štefanovičová, Michaela Šuranská, Helen Tóth, and Dušana Vrbovská.
