An artist must be strongly convinced that the journey he has taken is the right one. And countless hours, days and sleepless nights in the studio, with a stylus in hand and pain in the back, will pass until he arrives at his destination.
Albín Brunovský (1935 – 1997) entered the art scene in the 1960s. He was a contemporary with poets being referred to as the Trnava Group, many of whom became his life-long friends. The artist´s prints and paintings can be regarded as a materialised expression of his mind. Brunovský´s paintings show special characteristics, mostly in terms of technical and technological possibilities of work with colour, application of individual layers of paint and the way in which he works with colours on a panel. The value and quality of his works preserved a high level. Working as a teacher at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava he trained a group of artists that has gone down in history as Brunovský School. He is rightfully regarded as one of the most significant representatives of imaginative art in Slovakia.
